Julie & Fred
Julie and Fred’s invitations were a first for me: they were all completely in French! I have done lots of invites for people where they needed a couple of invites to send overseas to people in other languages but I have never done a set of invitations in a completely different language. Julie and Fred were amazing in doing all the proof reading and making sure everything was laid out correctly. The end result was beautiful with their very elegantly colour scheme of cream and gold. How we came up with the exact design of Julie and Fred’s invitations was very different than the way one of my designs usually comes together. During our first appointment we sat down and came up with a design idea that would fit the style and elegance of Julie and Fred’s wedding. The original design had simple gold pocket invitation with a gold pattern on the inside with a plain gold matte and then all the writing was to be on cream with gold font. When the order for their sample came in it was not what I was expecting. There was a small mix up and I accidently received gold pattern pockets instead of the plain gold pockets. As soon as I saw this I quickly ordered the plain gold pockets, but in the back of my mind I came up with a new design that incorporated the gold pockets. Once the plain gold pockets came in I did up an original design as well as the new design with the pattern pockets. Once Julie and Fred saw the pattern pocket they were immediately sold on it. The mistake of the pattern pockets turned out to be a wonderful accident and it really completed the look of the invitation by making it just that little bit more elegant and sophisticated than the original design (which was still beautiful). For their reception Julie and Fred had a beautiful gold table cloth so we matched their table numbers to their invites but only used the cream matte so that the table numbers stood out against the beautiful linens. For each guest we created their own personal menus to be placed on their plates.
